No Longer A Gentile!

No Longer A Gentile!

by Christine Egbert

Have any of your friends or family members ever ridiculed you for keeping the biblical 7th day Sabbath, Lord YHVH’s Feast Days, or for eating only what God’s word says is food? Did they tell you that those (biblical) commandments found in the Torah are only for Israel? If so, they are correct. The Torah is only for God’s in-covenant people, Israel! What they fail to understand is that once a Gentile become a disciple of Israel’s Jewish Messiah, Yeshua, they are grated into Israel’s cultivated Olive Tree. (Romans 11:17)  They become part of Israel’s Common Wealth and partakers of all of Israel’s covenants (plural)! According to Scripture, when Gentiles place their faith in Israel’s Messiah, they are no longer Gentiles.

Eph 2:11-13 “…remember that you, the nations, WERE THEN in the flesh (those having been called Uncircumcision by those having been called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands) that AT THAT TIME, YOU WERE (past tense) without Messiah, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers of the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But NOW, in Messiah Yeshua, you who WERE FAR OFF are brought NEAR by the blood of Messiah.”

Gal 3:29 says, “Iyou are in Messiah, then YOU ARE Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” This pattern was established when Israel first became a nation, when Israel–a mixed multitudestood at the base of Mt. Sini and promised to keep all of Lord YHVH’s commandments.

This pattern was repeated when a young Moabite woman, a Gentile named Ruth, pledged to her Jewish mother-in-law, Namoi, “Your people (Israel) shall be my people! And your God (YHVH) shall be my God!

With this heart-felt declaration, Ruth grafted herself into Israel and later became the great-grandmother of Israel’s King David.

For centuries now, the muddy waters of Replacement Theology have prompted many believers to tragically declare, “Your God is my God, but your people are NOT my people!”

Romans 11:17-18 And if SOME of the (natural) branches were broken off and you, a wild olive tree, were grafted in AMONG THEM, and WITH THEM partake of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, (remember) it is NOT YOU that bears the root, but the root that bears YOU.”

Lord YHVH renewed the Covenant with the “House of Judah” and the “House of Israel” (Jeremiah 31:31 & Hebrews 8:8). No where in Scripture do you find God entering into covenant with Gentiles. What you find is Gentiles joining themselves to God’s covenant people, Israel!

Hebrews 8:6 informs us that this New (kainoes/renewed) Covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah is better than the original covenant because of its “better promises.” Hebrews 8:7 explains WHY this renewal of the covenant became necessary. It became necessary because Elohim YHVH found fault, not with His Torah, but with the PEOPLE!  (Hebrews 8:8-9)

According to Strong’s Bible dictionary, a Gentile is a HEATHEN, someone from a heathen NATION, a people NOT in COVENANT with the Most High.

In Scripture A Name Is Destiny

Israel, on the other hand, is the name God gave to Abraham’s grandson Jacob. Gen 32:28  And He said, “Your name shall no more be called Jacob, but Israel, for as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Strong’s Bible dictionary defines Israel as meaning “he will rule as God,”and it states that Israel” refers also to Jacob’s posterity (that includes all of us grafted in FORMER Gentiles).

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith YHVH, I will put My Torah in their inward parts and write it in their hearts; and I will be THEIR GOD, and THEY shall be MY PEOPLE.

Joel 3:2 “I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will plead with them there for MY PEOPLE and for MY HERITAGE, ISRAEL, whom THEY have scattered among the NATIONS, and parted MY LAND.

Deu 7:6 For you (Israel) are a holy people unto the LORD your God: the LORD your God has chosen YOU to be a SPECIAL PEOPLE unto HIMSELF,  ABOVE ALL PEOPLE upon the face of the earth.

Psalms 22:3

Most people misquote Psalms 22:3 as, “God inhabits the praises of His people.”  But that is NOT what Psalms 22:3 says! It says, “He (God) inhabits the praises of Israel.”

Exodus 12:49 says, “One law (Torah) shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger who sojourns among you.”

Romans 8:7 confirms that our flesh has enmity towards God. Our flesh is not subjected to, nor can it be, subject to Yah’s Torah. Only when we, who have been given the Spirit of Yah, choose to walk by His Spirit–and not by our flesh–can we fulfill the righteous requirements of the Torah.  (Rom 8:4)

What does Scripture mean by “the time of the Gentiles” coming to a close? I believe it refers to a time when Christians will awaken to their true identity as Israel, and when biological descendants of the scattered Northern Tribes reawaken to their identity. This is happening now! God is calling HIS SPECIAL PEOPLE (ISRAEL) back to their spiritual roots, to their Hebrew roots. Christians are waking up to their identity. They’re returning to those old paths, the good way, in which Jeremiah (6:16) said, they would find rest for their soul.”

But just like ancient Israel, many Christians are still crying out, “We will not walk in it!”

Jeremiah 16:19

O YHVH, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. Jeremiah prophesied of a day when Gentiles would WAKE UP AND confess that their father’s HAD inherited lies (like claiming that God’s Torah is a curse).

Does God write His Torah on our heart so that we can continue to break it? Is our “freedom in Christ” freedom from Torah or freedom from bondage to sin, which Scripture defines as a violation of Torah?

Psalms 119:165 declares, “Great peace have they who love Your Torah, nothing shall offend them.”

Does God Change?

Scripture declares that God NEVER CHANGES! Malachi 3:6 “I, YHVH, do not change!” Yeshua, who emptied Himself and took on the form of a man (Phil 2:6-7), came only to do His Father’s will! He is the same yesterday, today and forever! (Heb 13:8). If God called certain things “abominations” in the Old Testament, they are still abominations in the New! This includes eating abominable things which He declares are NOT FOOD (Lev 11:7).

It’s NEVER a good idea to demonstrate love for the MOST HIGH by disobeying Him. “If you love me, keep My Commandments!” And, make no mistake, Yeshua’s commandments ARE His Father’s Commandments!

Remember Isaiah 66:3-4

“…Yea, they have chosen THEIR way, and their soul delights in THEIR ABOMINATIONS. So I will choose their vexations. I will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, no one answered. I spoke, and they did not HEAR, but they did evil in my eyes and CHOSE THAT in which I HAD NO PLEASURE.”

I will close with two passages, one from Ezekiel and one from Isaiah that tells of a time in the future, in the last days, when not only God’s People, Israel, will WALK in His ways, walk in His TORAH (the same TORAH many claim was nailed to the cross), but ALL NATIONS will go up to Jerusalem. WHY? To learn Lord YHVH’s ways and to WALK in HIS PATHS. Walk in means “do”!

Israel’s Future

Ezekiel 37:21-28 “And say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will take the sons of ISRAEL from among the nations, where they have gone. And I will gather them from all around, and will bring them into their own land.(22) And I will make them ONE NATION in the LAND, on the mountains of ISRAEL, and one King shall be for a king to ALL of them. And they shall not be two nations still. And they will not be split into two kingdoms any more. (23) And they will not still be defiled with their idols, even with their filthy idols, nor with all of their transgressions. But I will save them out of all their dwelling places where they have sinned in them, and I will cleanse them. So they shall be for a people to Me and I will be God to them.(24) And My Servant, David, shall be King over them. And there shall be ONE Shepherd to ALL of them. And they shall walk in My judgments and keep My statutes, and do them!(25) And they shall dwell on the land that I have given to my servant, to Jacob, there where your fathers dwelt in it. And they shall dwell on it, they and their sons, and the sons of their sons, forever. And My Servant David shall be a ruler to them forever. (26) And I will cut a covenant of peace with them, an everlasting covenant it shall be with them, And I will place them and multiply them, and I will put My sanctuary in their midst forever. (27) And My tabernacle shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (28) And when My sanctuary shall be in their midst forever, the nations (Gentiles) shall know that I, Jehovah, sanctify Israel.

Isaiah 2:2-3

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of Yahweh’s house (His temple in Jerusalem) shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and ALL NATIONS shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of YHVH, to the house of the God of Jacob (Israel); and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For out of Zion (Jerusalem) shall go forth the Torah, and the word of YHVH from Jerusalem.”
